About Americana Folk Festival
Since its inception in 2004, The Americana Folk Festival (AFF) is a grassroots event that continues to build an audience dedicated to better living and listening. With a quality-over-quantity approach often lost in bigger, corporate music events, AFF strives to create a sense of the back-porch “picking party”, even amidst thousands of audience members.
Nestled within a private campground in one of Tennessee’s most beautiful state parks, music begins in the morning and continues on three stages throughout the day and into the night. Audience members can also stroll through a wooded village laden with folk and outsider artists, craftsman, and instrument builders. Fans can even participate in organized nature activities like hikes and bike rides or stumble upon various open jam sessions throughout the grounds.
Contrary to the event’s name, AFF isn’t strictly an Americana or folk music festival, but a variation on a theme. With a vibe more Sundance than Merlefest, the event creates the place where diverse artists and fans gather to freely express their love for roots music.
About Day Hike and Mountain Bike
Join Keeley at 11am for a 5 mile hike along the overnight trail, accessible from the group camp. She will point out spots to turn back if you are interested in a shorter hike, or you can continue to hike further if you are interested in a longer hike. Please bring plenty of water, snacks, and good hiking shoes. We will gather at the trail head at 11am. Five miles should take us about 2.5 hours on average.
Dogs are not allowed on the hiking trails, but are allowed at the festival.
Join Sheryl and Paul for a mountain bike ride at 1pm at the Montgomery Bell State Park bike trail head. Sheryl will lead the beginner/intermediate ride and Paul will lead the expert/advanced ride. Bring your own bike, plenty of water, and snacks. If you aren’t sure where the trail head is, Sheryl and Paul will be at the Team Green booth prior to the ride.

I am still working out the details with the hike. I will most likely do a loop trail, or there-and-back and announce to the group and good cut off point if they want to make the hike shorter. I am looking at around 5 miles (2.5 hours). I will also coordinate a time with the Festival Staff (probably mid day) so that it can be announced well before the event. Thank you for your patience and interest!!
Keeley…is it possible to do the hike later….are earlier like 8am
so that those of us who want too can hike and hit the music at the festival….?A
Amy, The doors do not open until 9am, so we cannot access the trailhead until then. The music will be playing on 3 different stages from 10am until 11pm, so not matter what you will get a chance to hear lots and lots and lots of music!!! I figured 11am would be enough time for everyone to get over their Halloween hang overs, and still be able to catch the Zip Line at Adventure works and/or mountain biking in the afternoon.
you can hike from the parking area @ the warehouse from dawn to dark. just turn left before the gate @ group camp 2 you can access the MBTrail and spillway trail(short trail).
i would like to hike also.
is Lance Ussery doing the zip line?
Anyone is welcome to hike at any time, but the hike associated with the Festival is a joint event with Americana Folk Festival and Team Green and is at 11am at the overnight trail trailhead. Anyone is welcome to join!
