What Can You Do To Make a Difference?

Below are some suggestions for turning out and taking action. Of course, we encourage you and your organization to be creative and find your own unique ways to bring attention to the escalating climate crisis.

  • Sign up via the Nashville Earth Hour Website to receive e-mail updates and volunteer to turn off your lights on March 28.
  • “Friend” or “fan” Earth Hour Nashville on Facebook.
  • Follow Earth Hour Nashville on Twitter.
  • Blog about Earth Hour 2009.
  • Flip your switches! Turn off unnecessary lights, appliances and devices.
  • Dine by candlelight.
  • Host a green block party and brainstorm ways your community can work to conserve energy.
  • Contact family, friends and co-workers and encourage them to participate.
  • Learn more about Nashville Electric Service do-it-yourself home energy audits, and give your home a green makeover.
  • Chill out! Turn off gadgets and take one hour to just relax and reflect on how you can reduce your carbon footprint.

Earth Hour Activities

Are you afraid of the dark? Nashville isn’t! In 2009 Nashville is participating in a global movement to shut off every light in the city for one hour, along with 1500cities around the globe, setting the platform for an unprecedented global mandate for action on climate change. I think it will be fun. You can see Nash. join with other cities in helping save our planet. It’s one way to meet new friends and to get the exercise some of us need. Later
