Team Green is turning 13 and to celebrate our teen year’s we’re throwing a huge birthday bash downtown! Head over to the brand new Downtown YMCA building for a scavenger hunt for giveaway tickets as you visit different facility features of the building, then walk a block to The Standard, a historic downtown house converted into a beautiful restaurant and ballroom where the real party begins!

We’ll be giving away tickets to Paolo Nutini, July 29 Cannery; The Dead Weather, July 30 War Memorial; Green Day & Kaiser Chiefs, July 31 Sommet; India.Arie, July 31 Ryman; and Old Crow w/David Rawlings, Gillian Welch, Felice Brothers & Justin Townes Earle, Aug. 13 @ Riverfront. Plus a specially designed birthday cake from Whole Foods!!!

Parking is available in the 10th Avenue Lifeway lot that is located behind the Downtown YMCA. Please park in the lot then enter through the Downtown Y’s lower entrance. You will be greeted and guided to the celebration.

About the Downtown YMCA

Following a $20 million expansion and two years under construction, the Y has a renewed energy to inspire healthy living for everyone. Join us for the July mixer as we celebrate health and well-being at the Downtown YMCA and Team Green’s 13th birthday.

Parking and enter through the Downtown Y lower entrance where you’ll receive a map of the Y and walking directions to The Standard. Along your journey, you will visit 4 areas where you will learn more about the YMCA and receive your tickets for the giveaways. The more tickets you have, the greater your chances of winning!

After the Downtown Y tour, the celebration continues at The Standard Restaurant, just 2 blocks from the Y. You will need your “map” for entry into The Standard Restaurant and and Y tickets for entries into the drawings. At 8 pm, we will celebrate Team Green’s 13th birthday with good friends, birthday cake and giveaways (including a YMCA membership!)

About The Standard

The Smith House is Nashville’s only remaining grand townhouse from the 1840’s era still standing. It has a rich history and continues to be an integral part of life in downtown Nashville. The Standard now stands as an upscale yet affordable downtown restaurant, home of regional contemporary dining in any of the elegantly restored rooms and courtyard.

In 1881 Julian Sax bought the house as a residence and in 1883 he leased the home to the Concordia Society Club, which renamed itself The Standard Club upon moving into the house.

The Standard Club flourished and in 1895 they built the large ballroom at the rear of the building. Underneath the ballroom they installed what is believed to be Nashville’s first bowling alley. The bowling alleys ornate tin ceiling is still in place today. The Standard Club hosted Nashville’s high society with events in the ballroom including musical and dramatic revues, fabulous dances and lavish weddings. Later The Standard Club moved to a new location on Granny White Pike and renamed itself The Woodmont Country Club.
